As a Tradesman Decorator (Painting and Paperhanging Tradesman New Zealand) Nigel has spent many years painting, including working on many Florida, USA properties for celebrities. One such celebrity is featured below; the house in the background of this video is a feature in itself as it was "painted" using a very old technique known as "Lime Wash."
You will notice the colours; terracotta. This was achieved by adding colour to the lime wash. All lime wash was made on site and applied using fibre brushes to create a unique surface. Lime wash has been used since ancient times in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Its alkalinity makes it ideal to cope with ocean view properties exposed to salty sea air. For this reason it lasts hundreds of years when cared for properly.
